Did you know?

We do computer guided dental implant by use of CBCT and digital impressions which makes the implant placement very accurate, safe and predictable, versus free-hand surgery that is the opposite.
What is CT-Guided Dental Implants?
In guided surgery cases, CBCT scanning and digital intraoral impressions are used to generate a virtual representation of the patient’s jaw and oral anatomy. This is utilized to develop a digital treatment plan in which the exact position of the implant is determined in advance of treatment. A surgical guide is fabricated that controls the osteotomy in precise accordance with the preplanned implant position. The depth, angulation, and mesial-distal and buccal-lingual location of the implant osteotomy are precisely controlled by titanium sleeves situated within the surgical guide.

The superior level of accuracy afforded by this approach makes it ideal in situations where there are concerns related to bone volume and the proximity of vital patient anatomy such as the inferior alveolar nerve, sinus and neighboring teeth. In cases of narrow ridges or other instances of limited anatomical space, guided surgery simplifies the task of situating the implant within the available bone. In full-arch indications, guided surgery should always be a strong consideration provided the complexity of such cases and the less invasive nature of the procedure, atraumatic healing process, and the complete control it affords of the inter-implant positions.

Guided surgery is also more prosthetically driven, which is beneficial provided the growing emphasis on final esthetics in implant therapy. The digital treatment-planning element of guided surgery allows the practitioner to begin with the ideal restoration and work down to the implant position. While this approach can be adopted in freehand cases, the precision and control afforded by guided surgery enable the clinician to position and angulate the implant for the most esthetic restorative outcome possible.
What is a CT Scan?
A CBCT scan, also known as Cone Beam CT scan is a procedure that combines x-ray images to create 3D cross-sectional views of the scanned area.
This allows doctors to see structures such as bone, soft tissues, and nerve canal at many different angles for better diagnosis and treatment plans.

Dentists can use CBCT to have an accurate view of the bone and surrounded anatomy to place a dental implant safely. Performing a dental CT is very simple and completely painless. The patient sits stationary in a designated seat while the imaging system takes several pictures of your face in a matter of seconds.

At Clovedent Family Dentistry we use the Villa 3D CT Scanner, which provides one of the fastest scans on the market. This scan only emits a very low dose of radiation that is less than that of a standard set of full mouth dental x-rays. This advanced technology paired with intramural digital impression using a camera allows us to offer our patients the best possible care with placing a dental implant very safely and accurately.

Teeth Whitening

Enhance the brightness of your natural teeth with teeth whitening in Toronto from Clovedent Family Dentistry. Our whitening treatments can last from 4 to 12 months depending on the treatment used and your consumption of food and drinks that can stain teeth such as coffee, tea and dark colas. Of course, proper oral hygiene will go a long way to keeping your teeth white.

Types of Teeth Whiteners

Are you a candidate for teeth whitening? If so, you can choose between over-the-counter whitening kits or dentist-supervised treatments like those offered at Clovedent Family Dentistry. Keep in mind that store-bought products require 7 to 30 days of consistent use to achieve the desired effect. Your individual results will vary.

Our in-office teeth whitening offers enhanced results in much less time. You can expect 5-10 shades brighter in a 45-minute session as we use a higher concentration of whitening agent than what is available in over-the-counter kits.

Why would I need a CT scan at the dentist?

CT scans can be especially helpful to dentists in planning procedures like dental implants, as they provide views of bone structure, bone density, tissues and nerves that can’t be seen with traditional dental x-rays. 3D imaging can assist with assessing the quality of the jawbone, determining the best spot to place the implant and the appropriate size and type of implant needed.

Dental implants done via traditional placement techniques are typically time-consuming to complete. With CT scans the entire surgical procedure can be planned out and practiced in advance, reducing the amount of time the patient is in the clinic and improving their overall results.
How will I benefit from CT-guided implant placement?

At Clovedent Family Dentistry we always use the CT-guided implant placement procedure because it provides several benefits to the patient. These include:

  • minimally invasive surgical techniques
  • reduced treatment and recovery time
  • minimized complications
  • more successful placement and enhanced end results
Using CT scans for guidance is the best option for dental implant placement.
