What is Snoring and Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea is a potentially life-threatening sleep disorder, it is characterized by many symptoms, the most prominent of which is interrupted breathing while a person is sleeping.

We use different devices for Sleep Apnea treatment

At Clovedent Family Dentistry we  use
  • Narval sleep appliance
  • The Panthera Anti-Snoring device
  • TAP3
  • SomnoDent
The sound of snoring is produced from the upper airway of your throat and caused by loose and relaxed vibrating tissues during breathing. The sound may come from the soft palate and uvula, the back of the throat and tongue, or a combination. This sound is an indication that air is having difficulty passing through the airway. This sound may be an indication that the person has upper airway resistance or constriction, indicating a serious health condition called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). About 50% of snorers have OSA. It is possible that some persons may have OSA and not snore. Snoring is considered a precursor to Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS) and progress into Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
